Next Step in Wall Teacher Sex Case Could Be Months Away

Warnick has pleaded not guilty and posted bail

Having now pleaded not guilty and posted bail, Wall English teacher Kalee Warnick of Wall Township could wait months before charges are presented to a grand jury, according to the prosecutor's office.

The court calendar for the case, where Warnick is accused of having sex with a 15 year-old student, awaits scheduling for that next step, said Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesmen Charles Webster.

"The next step is a presentation in front of the grand jury for possible indictment. But that could be months from now," he said.

According to police documents, Warnick, 22, allegedly had an improper relationship with a 15-year-old male student that included sexual contact. The warrant does not go into further detail about the nature of the incident.

The complaint charges Warnick with aggravated criminal sexual contact, a third degree crime, and one count of having a sexual relationship with a minor she had responsibility of the care of, which is a second degree crime.

The incident was reported to Wall Police on July 14, according to the court documents.

Warnick works as an English teacher for the Wall Township high school, and at the May school board meeting she was one of four teachers approved for summer in-home instruction for a student at a rate of $52 an hour for 10 hours.

Warnick was charged July 30 and $50,000 bail was set.
