Farmingdale resident finished third in female race
It was a busy day at the Manasquan Reservoir on Sunday as 107 runners converged for a five-mile race around the property. Racers from around the Tri-State area came to Howell to run and in the end it was Angel Confesor from Brooklyn who won the men's race in 29:05.5. He was followed by Neptune's Pat Ford who ran a 30:14.1 and Dave Hallman of Wrightstown who was close behind with a time of 30:38.1. Winning the women's race was Tammy Minott of Wilmington, DE with a time of 36:10.1. Unlike the men's race Minott narrowly edged out her closest competitor in Wendy Kerr of Hawthorne who ran a 36:12.8 for a close second. Bassmaster Magazine ranks Howell watering hole 96th best spot in country
The Manasquan Reservoir was named by Bassmaster Magazine as one of the nation's top spots for bass fishing, NorthJersey.com reported. The Howell reservoir was ranked 96th among the country's 100 best lakes for bass fishing. Lake Hopatcong, ranked 68th, was the only other New Jersey spot to make the list. A panel of writers, editors, professional anglers and fishing industry veterans made the final decisions on a list that took months to compile, the news site reported. The critera included each lake's current fishability, history, big-fish yield, quality potential and aesthetic surroundings, the report says.
