Rutgers Grease Trucks Business Considered for Manasquan Beachfront Concession

Borough was soliciting interested parties

Rutgers Grease Truck vendors were approached as a possible third party to operate a mobile concession on the borough beachfront this summer. Manasquan was inviting food truck and other mobile food vendors to apply for a spot on the beach front this summer. However, the 'fat sandwich' vendors and other vendors did not really stand out as the operation the borough was looking to have, said Manasquan Business Administrator Joe DeIorio. A fat sandwich is piled high with several meals' worth of food — two cheeseburgers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, for example — all …

Countdown to Memorial Day

Manasquan To Decide Fees for Lockers, $400 Parking Permit at Sea Watch

Council meets tonight at 8 p.m.

The borough will take over running the lockers and parking lot at the Sea Watch after the previous vendor opted out this season. Manasquan Council will vote on the fees at its meeting tonight.  The parking permit would be $400, and each purchaser would get a parking tag that corresponds to a numbered space; that's the spot the tagged vehicle is allowed to park in. Here's more of what the council will decide tonight at its meeting, 8 p.m. in Borough Hall. Lockers vary in size and price to use for the season: 21X31 size is a $170 permit; 21x64 are 22X78 sizes are $325; 35X87 is $410. The prices and permits would go into effect between May 15 and Sept. 30. For those who rent a locker, any property left in a locker after Sept. 30 will be …

This will be a defining election for Manasquan. Will thoughtful candidates be voted in as were Sinneck & Olivera, or will Manasquan retain the usual "keepin' Manasquan Manasquan" attitude? Donovan has shown no leadership with storm and water related issues. Then he puts his buddy on town payroll. Time for a changing of the guard.   more ›

Contract to repair to existing buildings, plus another $75,000 to oversee construction

Manasquan is advancing plans to repair existing beachfront buildings damaged in Hurricane Sandy for a cost estimated at $306,000. The borough recently opened bids for the project, which would rebuild the inlet comfort station and gazebo improvements on Riverside Drive, the restroom and lifeguard building on Ocean Avenue, and the beach department building on Second Avenue. Three bids were received for the project, with the lowest bid at $316,000 when adding in the alternate gazebo. The borough engineer estimated the work would come in at $437,000. McAuley Construction was awarded the contract as …

Why would Manasquan officials continue to engage and pay T&M Engineering for anything? Has the water problem been resolved? Didn't they miscalculate the Eastmond Pavilion? It's time to quit the back-scratching, remove all appearances of impropriety and retain a new engineering firm so this town can be put back together at a decent price, on time and with everything in the proper place.   more ›
