Both the boys and girls basketball teams received top seeds in the state tournament
The basketball teams at St. Rose have had quite the seasons thus far and that has allowed them to earn the top seeds in the state tournament later this month. Both will receive a bye into the quarterfinals and hope to add a state title to their already impressive resumes. They weren't the only team to enjoy some good news as the wrestling team made history of their own. Let's get to this week's Roses Report. Boys Basketball The Purple Roses were awarded the top seed on the Non-Public South B State Tournament. With the top seed, the Roses earned a bye into the quarterfinals and will await the winner between eighth-seed Moorestown Friends and ninth-seed Sacred Heart of Vineland. The Lady Roses lost their first game of the year, but rebounded with two wins
The dream of a perfect season came to an end for one of the teams at St. Rose, while another suffered a humbling defeat to a state power. Boys Basketball The Purple Roses kicked off the week with a 58-28 drubbing of Henry Hudson on Monday. Three players scored in double figures, with Cliff Clark leading the way with 16 points. Brandon Carroll added 11 points and Andrew Van Schaack finished with 10 points. The game was much tighter on Tuesday as the Roses were able to slip past Freehold Township, 51-48. The game was tied entering the fourth quarter, but the Roses had enough to grab their 13th win of the season. Andrew Kurtz had 19 points to lead the Roses. While the basketball teams receive the most attention, the St. Rose ice hockey team is quietly putting together a solid campaign.
With much of the attention going to the basketball teams, the St. Rose ice hockey team has been flying under the radar as of late. With the boys basketball team taking a few losses this week as they feel from the ranks of the unbeatens, it might be time to start paying attention to the Purple Roses flying around on the ice. Let's get to some of the results in this week's Roses Report. Boys Basketball It would be quite an amazing feat to go the entire season undefeated. The boys basketball team entered this past week with an unblemished record, but that is no more after suffering two losses. The majority of the teams saw positive results this past week at St. Rose High School.
It was a pretty typical week at St. Rose High School. The basketball teams continued to their dominance, the wrestling team continued its upward trend and the ice hockey team got a win. Oh, and there was snow which meant that an entire day of games was postponed. Let's not waste any more time and get to this week's Roses Report. Boys Basketball The Purple Roses pushed their record to a perfect 10-0 this week with two more wins. The first came last Saturday against Monmouth Regional High School.
