24-Year-Old Dead in Early-Morning Tinton Falls Parkway Crash

Driver was a Toms River resident

A 24-year-old Toms River man was killed in a single car crash on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls early Tuesday morning. New Jersey State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman said Nicolai Ruiz was found dead on the scene at mile marker 105.2 after he was ejected from his car. Grossman said Ruiz's 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck hit a guardrail, overturned multiple times and struck a tree in the express northbound lane at about 12:22 a.m. Grossman said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Belmar Sex Offender Gets 28-Year Sentence

Man pleaded guilty on Oct. 10, 2012

The following is a new release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office: John W. Ludlow, 61, of Belmar, was sentenced Friday in Freehold on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and child pornography offenses, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. Ludlow pleaded guilty on Oct. 10, 2012, during his trial in front of Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Ronald L. Reisner. Judge Reisner sentenced Ludlow to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison on a first degree count of Aggravated Sexual Assault subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act (NERA), which means he will have to serve 85 percent of the sentence (17 years) before he is eligible for parole. Woman Killed in Long Branch Apartment Fire ID'd

Woman was killed in Monday morning fire

The woman killed in an apartment fire in Long Branch early Monday morning has been identified. Ann D. Lavelle, 79, of 11 Howland Ave., was a resident of the downstairs apartment of the building, and was found dead inside the building. Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Public Information Officer Charlie Webster said her cause of death has not yet been released, because autopsy results are still pending. Webster said the investigative team "conducted a thorough examination of the structure (at 11 Howland Ave.) and identified the area of origin as the rear bedroom." Man Found Guilty in Connection With 2008 Murder of Eatontown Resident

Neptune resident is scheduled to be sentenced in April

A Neptune man has been found guilty of murdering Nathaniel Wiggins, 24, of Eatontown. Tahj Pines, 27, of Neptune was found guilty of felony murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the 2008 murder of Wiggins, Acting Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Friday. Pines remains incarcerated at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution and is scheduled for sentencing on April 12, 2013, before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Richard W. English. Former Birdsall Executive Pleads Guilty in Pay-To-Play Scheme

Executive charged with disguising illegal corporate political contributions as person contributions of employees of the firm

Philip Angarone, the former director of marketing for Birdsall Services Group, a large Monmouth-based engineering firm, pleaded guilty Nov. 30 for his role in a scheme in which the firm fraudulently avoided the restrictions of New Jersey’s Pay-to-Play Act by disguising illegal corporate political contributions as personal contributions of employees of the firm, Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said. Angarone, 40, of Hamilton (Mercer County), pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Wendel E.
