My husband and I purchased appliances from Carl a few months back. I found out today that he passed. He was a good kid, I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. My deepest condolences to all that loved him, I will always remember him fondly. Irene   more ›

Attorney General: Troopers in High-Speed Luxury Car Escort Altered Plates

The troopers have been criminally charged in connection with the March 2012 incident.

Two New Jersey state troopers accused of leading a high-speed escort on the Garden State Parkway for a fleet of luxury cars have been criminally charged, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced. The New Jersey State Police (NJSP) received complaints regarding the March 2012 caravan to Atlantic City, and the troopers were subsequently suspended without pay in April. In a press conference in Trenton on Friday, Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said the troopers who conducted the unauthorized escort "turned our highway into a virtual speedway." "What they did was absolutely wrong," he said. An investigation by the Division of Criminal Justice into the incident found that the troopers, Sgt. First Class Nadir Nassry, 47, and Trooper…

It seems that there are a number of cases of state troopers abusing their authority and position. Even prior to this, I have read of news of state troopers who have been issued suspension for falsification and tampering because they were escorting a high-speed caravan, etc. I became more aware of this I when I was searching for car parts news and car news over the internet. Why it caught my …   more ›

Season starts this week

It was less than a year ago that Hurricane Irene inflicted serious damage on the east coast of the United States. New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Director Edward Dickson and New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuentes recently announced some of the changes being made. That includes an increase in communication to help residents prepare for emergency situations. With hurricane season running through Nov. 30 Dickson said hopefully with preparation New Jersey residents will be ready should a similar storm strike the state. Another waste of taxpayors money. Whatever happened to taking things one step at at time!? For example, how bout solving dense fog first! This sneeky, incipient menace is small potahtoes (sic intentional - I like the sound of that and it adds to the impression of sophistication already inherent in my writings and such) compared to HURRICANES. And please do not, for the 10,000th time, accuse me of…   more ›

Chase started in Ewing, ended in Brick; Authorities say it was second pursuit in a day for suspect

After leading state police on an east-west pursuit across the state, a Delanco man was shot and wounded on a Brick Township street early Wednesday morning, authorities said. At about 12:30 a.m., state troopers tried to stop a white Nissan Pathfinder after observing a moving violation on Rt. 29 in the West Trenton section of Ewing Township, police said. Hollowman, problem is that the finger pointing cowards in office in Brick continually get re-elected by the same type of cowards like BrickMom, Max, TimeForChange. They walk around like sheep and vote for these cowards, then come here crying that their SAFEST city is now one of the top VIOLENT cities in NJ. State Rolls Out New Alert System

State Police and the O.E.M. providing critical information via text messaging

New Jersey residents are now able to receive critical information from state officials via text message, according to a release from the State Police. State Police and the Office of Emergency Management will be using an electronic service called Nixle Connect to deliver important and time sensitive information to state residents, the release says. The service, provided at no cost to taxpayers, allows verified government agencies to communicate with the public via text/SMS, email and internet posts, the release says. I thought there were two different subscription types for Barnegat? One being town news and the other police business. It's been a while since I subscribed so I could be mistaken. Personally, I love the system and like to know what is on the agenda without having to find a newspaper. One major flaw in the Nixle site itself and maybe it has been changed... it was very difficult to subscribe to …   more ›

Drunk Boating Crackdown Set for This Weekend

Coast Guard, State Troopers participating in national effort

Coast Guard members and New Jersey State Troopers will participate in a nationwide crackdown on drunk boating this weekend and step up their efforts to detect boaters operating vessels under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The two agencies will participate in Operation Dry Water, a national effort which runs June 24-26 this year. Authorities will be searching for boat operators whose blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeds the national limit of .08 percent, the same level of intoxication that can earn drivers a drunk driving charge on the road. According to the most recent statistics compiled by the Coast Guard, boating under the influence is still the leading contributing factor in fatal boating accidents, with 17 percent of boating …

In 1991, I got a ticket for "Operating a Vessel while under the Influence". I was paddling a canoe. Minding my own business. On the river I grew up on. Probably the first person in NJ to get that ticket under those circumstances. Shortly after, the phrase: "Watch out for the water nazi's" became common. If they could bust me for that back then, they should be able to make arrests on just about …   more ›
