Manasquan Man Charged with Burglary, Jewelry Thefts in Marlboro

Michael Thoma, 23, was arrested in September in connection with five Marlboro burglaries. Police filed additional charges this week.

Marlboro police charged Michael Thoma, 23 of Manasquan this week in connection with multiple burglaries committed between August and September of 2012. In August, Thoma, who previously had a New Brunswick address, allegedly gained entry to two homes in Marlboro through an unlocked back door. County reports do not indicate what, if anything was stolen at that time. In September, Thoma allegedly entered two Marlboro Township homes, stealing a combined $35,000 worth of jewelry. Thoma was arrested at the end of September by police after allegedly burglarizing five homes in Marlboro and allegedly stealing $17,000 worth of jewelry from a Manalapan home. Spring Lake Heights Man Appointed Acting County Warden

Barry Nadrowski takes over for retired Brian Elwood

A Spring Lake Heights man begins work this week in a new role as warden of the Monmouth County jail. Barry Nadrowski, who previously was the deputy warden of the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, was appointed acting warden and began the role Tuesday. Nadrowski takes the reigns from previous warden Brian Elwood, who announced his retirement after serving as warden since 2011. Elwood had served 25 years in corrections, according to the county. Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden praised Elwood and said he's comfortable working with Nadrowski:  “It was an honor to have Brian Elwood serve as warden,” said Golden in a prepared statement. “Acting Warden Nadrowski is a dedicated law enforcement professional, and I’m confident his …
