No Gas: Station Closed At Parkway's Monmouth Service Area In Wall

Station will be closed until mid-May, officials said Monday

If you’re used to filling up your tank at the Monmouth service area of the Garden State Parkway, you’re going to have to alter your plans for the next couple of months, officials said. Sunoco, which operates gas stations on the parkway, has shut down the facility just north of Exit 98 in Wall while it upgrades the facility, officials said. The work is similar to that done at the Cheesequake, Atlantic City and Forked River service areas, said Tom Feeney, New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman. The work at the Monmouth service area is expected to be complete by mid-May, Feeney said, but until then, no gas. Only the fuel service will be affected. Police: Two Gas Stations Mistakenly Distribute Jet Fuel

Keyport and Manasquan station received wrong delivery

Delta Gas Station on Route 36 in Keyport and Lukoil in Manasquan were shut down after the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office reported to local police that jet fuel was mistakenly delivered to the stations, police said. In addition, three locations in Mercer County were also shut down after authorities discovered jet fuel was delivered to pumps there. The jet fuel caused several vehicles to stall out due to the fuel mixture, according to a press release from Keyport Police Chief Butch Casaletto.  It's unknown at this time if the jet fuel was added to the high-test or to the regular fuel tank.  Monmouth County Hazmat and the Keyport Fire Department were contacted and advised police that there was no fire danger in regards to the fuel delivery…

Other sites are reporting it wasn't Jet fuel, it was aviation gasoline. The difference is similar to that between diesel and car gas.   more ›
