WED. UPDATE: Boat Had Mechanical Failure Before Hitting Jetty

No injuries when Ocean One Hit Point Beach Jetty at Manasquan Inlet

The Ocean One commercial fishing vessel had a mechanical failure that caused loss of power that led it to collide into the rock jetty on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet, the Coast Guard said on Wednesday afternoon. The scallop boat was coming back into the inlet when it lost power and the shoal that has developed along the jetty since Sandy had nothing to do with the incident, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Dan Wishnoff. Three people were safely rescued from a commercial scalloping vessel that drifted onto the rock jetty on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet on Tuesday night, according to the Coast Guard. There were no injuries among the three, whose names were not yet available, said Joseph Hartline…

Point Boro Girl Rescued from Manasquan Inlet Fall

12-year-old slipped on jetty, taken to hospital with minor leg injury

A Point Pleasant Borough girl who slipped and fell Sunday while playing on the Manasquan Inlet jetty in Manasquan suffered no serious injuries, police said Monday.  The 12-year-old fell in between the jetty rocks shortly after 7 p.m. and was pulled out by a human chain of police, fire and first-aid officials, Manasquan Police Chief Elliott Correia said.  In accordance with standard procedure, she was carried off the jetty to safety in a litter (or rescue basket), Correia said.  The girl complained of a leg injury and was transported by ambulance to a hospital Sunday night, Correia said. The injury did not appear serious, he added.  Authorities did not release the girl's name.

That is the problem, the way everyone seems to speed, you are pulling out a little to try to see if a car is coming being there is blocked views, all they have to do is tap you because they are going down 35 at 65 miles an hour and then you both go into a tail spin and wind up somewhere on someones lawn. There is many streets in the beach that are bad with blocked views, if you are going west and…   more ›

Distressed swimmer saved and a girl injured while climbing jetty

It's been a busy day for emergency service providers in Bradley Beach as two separate incidents occurred on the borough's Lareine Avenue beach. A bather who became distressed in the ocean is safe thanks to the intervention of others nearby. Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida reported that Joseph Padalino, 49, of Staten Island, NY, had difficulty in the waters off Lareine Avenue and was helped to shore by fellow bathers.  Once ashore, Padalino was treated at the scene by members of the Bradley Beach First Aid Squad.
