Gun Privacy Bill Moves Out Of Assembly Committee

Sponsored by Assemblyman Dave Rible, the bill would keep private the names and addresses of gun permit holders

A state bill that would prohibit the public release of names of gun permit holders has moved out of a State Assembly committee Wednesday, officials said. Sponsored by Assemblymen Dave Rible and Ron Dancer, both R-Monmouth and Ocean, the bill seeks to restrict public access to the names and addresses of gun permit holders under the state’s Open Public Records law. Rible, a Wall resident, previously has said he is opposed to the release of such information because it could prove potentially dangerous to law-abiding citizens, such as law enforcement officers. The bill, A-3788, passed out of the Law and Public Safety Committee Wednesday, Rible said in a release. “Releasing personal information about those who have firearms permits or licenses …

Ok, let me see if I have this correctly, people that have guns, are at risk, because people who may not have guns know? Is that right? And, as it goes if one were to observe an individual in public brandishing a firearm, then the totters right to privacy to bear arms means one could not yell out a warning of 'HE's GOT A GUN!'..or worse, call the Police to report a person with gun? Is that right?   more ›

Bill seeks to ban currently available public information on handgun permit holders

A bill that would prohibit the public release of names of gun permit holders has been introduced in the State Assembly, officials said. Sponsored by Assemblymen Dave Rible and Ron Dancer, both R-Monmouth and Ocean, the bill seeks to restrict public access to the names and addresses of gun permit holders under the state’s Open Public Records law. Rible, a Wall resident, previously has said he was opposed to the release of such information because it could prove potentially dangerous to law-abiding citizens, such as law enforcement officers. I hope it does! Families do need the support and some find it while others don't. We would love to see a support network setup locally to support parents and families emotionally. Life is a challenge for these children and I think this Bill will help NJ go in the right direction. It is not about "teaching the subjects" it is about "teaching a child how to learn" and if they "learn differently or …   more ›

Rible: Spring Lake is Open for Business

Assemblyman encourages shoppers and diners to visit

11th Legislative District Assemblyman Dave Rible visited Spring Lake's downtown business district on Wednesday, encouraging residents and tourists alike to support the shops and restaurants in the borough. Spring Lake was among towns that sustained significant damage at the hands of Hurricane Irene. The beachfront boardwalk was decimated and many area streets saw rampant flooding as both the Spring Lake and Wreck Pond swelled with storm water. JCP&L has worked to restore power to the borough and most, if not all, of the businesses in the borough's scenic downtown are now open for business. Assemblyman Rible has released the following statement: “Spring Lake is a beautiful town and while it was affected by Hurricane Irene, the beach and …

I'm glad the beautiful shore town made it through the storm. Good luck to all who have damage and hope for speedy repairs. The boardwalk, while "green" was not attractive, Maybe a new, more realistic-looking "green" product is available to replace the damaged areas.   more ›

Officials Laud Bridge Re-Opening

Business owners happy to see bridge functional for holiday weekend

State Sen. Sean Kean and Assemblyman Dave Rible joined with business owners and local representatives to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate the reopening of the Main Street (Route 71) bridge that connects Avon-By-The-Sea and Belmar over the Shark River. Despite predictions that it wouldn't open until late July, the New Jersey Department of Transportation reported Friday that the bridge will be opened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic today. The bridge has been closed since October 2010, when the DOT began a $17.8 million rehabilitation of the mechanical and electrical systems and safety barriers for the bridge. The project also included improvements to the Route 88 bridge over the Inland Waterway in Point Pleasant. “We …
