Belmar Mayor Wants a Town Clock
Neighboring towns have them, so should Belmar, Doherty says
"Avon's got one, Spring Lake's got one, Lake Como even has a town clock — we don't have a town clock," Belmar Mayor Matthew Doherty said at Wednesday's Borough Council meeting. But all that is about to change, he said. The borough is planning to go out to bid for a town clock that will most likely cost around $26,000, which will be paid for entirely through fundraising, Doherty said. The borough will raise money for the clock through donations from residents and local businesses, Doherty said. Any person or business donating a certain amount of money to the fund will receive a miniature clock and get their name engraved on the base of the actual town clock, he said.
