Philadelphia Fireman Injured in the Surf off Belmar
Neck injury sustained; man transported to ICU
A 57-year-old Philadelphia fireman is in intensive care at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after sustaining a neck injury on Belmar's 10th Avenue beach Wednesday afternoon. The man, whose name is being withheld, suffered the injury when he apparently dove into shallow water, Belmar Police Chief Thomas Palimasano confirmed on Wednesday evening. The man was pulled from the surf by members of the Belmar Beach Patrol and rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Identification of the injured man and further information on his condition are forthcoming pending notification of family.
