To the owner of St. Stephens Green,
Just had dinner with my 7 yr old daughter at your restaurant this evening. Everything went well up to the point when your waitress, Nancy, dropped the bill on the table when SHE thought it was time for our dinner to be over. (I NEVER ASKED for the bill !) I find it very RUDE when a waiter/waitress does that in a restaurant. (YOUR NOT RUNNING A DINER are you??) I'm sure as a proprietor of a large restaurant, that when YOU, yourself dine out, the bill never hits YOUR table till YOU ask for it! The second annoyance/INSULT we experienced tonight was when Nancy came back to the table while we were eating our desert and I was sipping my Irish coffee, she opened the bill fold, while it was on the table, to see if we had put money or our credit card in the bill fold. What in the HECK IS THAT??? I'm 50 years old and have been dining out since my early 20's and have dined in some of the very best restaurants in the NYC metropolitan area as well as in this country and have never, ever had a member of the waitstaff EVER check to see if I put my card or money in the bill fold. I was extremely INSULTED !!!!! It was so outrageous, that even my 7 yr old daughter, mentioned it to me. Her exact words were and I quote, " I had steam coming out of my ears when she did that! "
I find it pretty ridiculous when a 7 yr old child can even tell when service by a waitstaff member is below par.
