Female Grey Seal Treated for Lacerations

Allenhurst incident among April strandings

Stranded seals, some in physical distress, made up many of the incidents the Marine Mammal Stranding Center responded to in April.

Based out of Brigantine, the stranding center has responders throughout the Jersey Shore heading to reports of marine animals in distress. 

In April, those incidents included a grey seal stranded off Allenhurst in Monmouth County. The 51-pound female seal was treated for a lacerations on April 25. The seal was found with minor lacerations around the face, swollen right front flipper, according to the stranding center.
