Fire Company Fireworks in Belmar Tonight

Annual display a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department

The Goodwill Hose Company in Belmar sponsors its annual fireworks display at 9 p.m. today.

The fireworks will be set off on the 7th Ave beach and will follow the Belmar Five kids races at 6:30 p.m.

The fireworks are paid for by the volunteer fire company, as part of a fundraiser for the Belmar Five.

“The fireworks will follow the kids races and a movie. After the movie, once it’s dark, is when they display the fireworks,” Mayor Matt Doherty said. “People ask all the time why we don’t set them off on the fourth of July. It’s not the borough doing it, it’s the volunteer fire company that puts it on.”

The fireworks are part of the , a five-mile run fundraiser for the firehouse.

There is a rain date scheduled for July 14.
