Rebuilding in the Weeks Ahead for Manasquan, Belmar Area

Belmar continues to lay boardwalk decking as part of the massive $6.59 million rebuilding of its destroyed boardwalk.

Manasquan expects to soon finish its sand shifting on its beachfront in the next step in rebuilding its beach.

March 7: Belmar drives the last piling for its boardwalk.

March 8: Belmar surpasses $500,000 in donations as part of its "Buy a Board" boardwalk rebuilding fund.

March 9: Spring Lake and Wall volunteers plan a day of clean-up for Wreck Pond along Route 71.

March 13: Belmar Council meeting, with agenda items such as the bid for lighting the boardwalk, street repair and more.

March 28: Manasquan's permit fee waiver for storm-related construction permits has been extended to March 28. The fee waiver includes storm-related demolition permits, repairs and rehabilitation. The raising and rebuilding of structures, such as new construction will require permit fees, and is not covered under the fee waiver.

April 27: Clean Ocean Action will hold its 28th Annual Beach Sweeps, an event where volunteers clean debris from local beaches.

April 30: Belmar established a deadline for the boardwalk rebuilding contract. If Epic Construction has the boardwalk completed by April 30, the company receives a bonus, and if not, it will start accruing daily fines.

Memorial Day Weekend: Bradley Beach and Belmar are among the towns planning to have their boardwalks open for Memorial Day.

June 1: Sea Girt plans to have its boardwalk open, from Beacon to New York.
