Manasquan Fireman's Fair Throughout the Years

Founded in 1974

The Manasquan Fireman's Fair draws thousands from the area for a week of celebration and fun, with rides, food and activities.
This year the event kicks off today with a 6 p.m. parade, and the fun goes on each evening through Aug. 3

But while the fair is booming now, the history of the Manasquan Fireman's Fair includes a decade-long break.

In 1988, organizers of the Manasquan Fireman's Fair decided it would be the last year for the event due to waning interest since the celebration began in 1974.

But in the next decade interest built to revive the fair, and in 1998, it was back.

Organizers say the fair now draws 30,000 visitors from Tuesday through the weekend, each year.

Manasquan-Belmar Patch compiled its own gallery and YouTube videos of the fair throughout the years. Take a look.
