Belmar And Manasquan Excel In 45th Annual Lifeguard Tournament

More than 100 lifeguards competed in Monday's tournament.

Manasquan excelled in the 45th Annual Ocean Grove Lifeguard Tournament, according to NJ.com.

More than 100 lifeguards across 10 Monmouth County towns competed in the tournament, NJ.com reported. There were five events in which the lifeguards used rescue craft and equipment. Numbers were drawn to determine who would compete in each event. 

Long Branch won the tourney; Spring Lake was the runner up. Belmar came in third place.

The following lifeguards won events:

  • Paddle Pick Up: Matt Nunnally and Ryan Perkins, Bradley Beach
  • Line Pull: Jamie Lynch and Tim Farrell, Manasquan
  • Kayak Relay: Carolyn Fittin, Sea Girt
  • Paddle Board Race: Robbie Whitacre, Long Branch
  • Boat Relay: John Cullen and Chris Wilson, Allenhurst
