What to do in Manasquan and Belmar during the long holiday weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend close to home? Or maybe you're headed down the shore for the final weekend of summer?

Saturday, Sept. 1: 

  • The Belmar Farmer's Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pyanoe Plaza, 9th Avenue and Main Street in Belmar. The event runs every Saturday through September. 
  • Annamaria Alfieri, , will be at , 171 Main Street in Manasquan, at 7 p.m. Invisible Country, Alfieri's second historical mystery, is set in war-torn Paraguay under brutal dictator Francisco Solano López in 1868, during South America’s War of the Triple Alliance. 
  • Join your friends, family and fellow locals at Manasquan's Labor Day Celebration on the Main Beach beginning at 7:30 p.m. A concert by "MOONLIGHTING" will be followed by the Gala Fireworks Display. Presented by the Tourism Commission, sponsored by The Osprey. Rain date Sept. 2.

  • Manasquan Hook & Ladder Co. #1 is sponsoring a flea market at Squan Plaza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The plaza is located at Abe Vorhees Drive, adjacent to Main Street, between Route 71 and South Street. Rain date Sept. 3.
