Gee Gee's Rebuild Advancing, Temporary Plans To Serve Pizza in Manasquan

Landmark arcade and pizza shop destroyed by Hurricane Sandy

The road next to Manasquan landmark business Gee Gee's was an open pit of rebar as workers rebuild the area surrounding the arcade and pizzeria.

Surrounded by high chain link construction fence, the property at the boardwalk, First and East Main continues in hopes of restoring the business, which is currently boarded up with plywood. The storm surge of Hurricane Sandy took down walls of the beachfront destination.

The business asked Manasquan Council to approve extended work hours in hopes of completing more work than would be possible in the borough-approved work hours due to noise and labor concerns. Borough Council approved work for expanded construction at a winter meeting, and the buzz of construction continues weekdays at the corner heading into spring.

Though work continues, Gee Gee's does not expect to be open for summer 2013. Management of Gee Gee's told the Asbury Park Press there are plans to serve pizzas in an adjacent building this season and have Gee Gee’s restored in 2014.
