Belmar Offers Pre-Paid Parking Meter Cards

Never again worry about 'feeding the meter' with $20 card

The days of worrying about "feeding the meter" in Belmar are over -- sort of.

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty is reminding residents and visitors they can purchase a $20 pre-paid parking meter card at any beach badge ticket booth to use at any metered parking spot along Ocean Avenue.

The cards give customers 20 hours of parking time that can be carried from one summer to the next -- they never expire, according to a release from the borough.

The card does not, however, guarantee parking at any Ocean Avenue spot, nor does it allow visitors to park beyond the 20 hours of time alloted, the release says.

“This simple payment method is another convenience we implemented for our customers,” Doherty said in the release. “Customers will no longer be left searching for the heavy and often elusive coins needed to pay parking meters, and will instead simply pull out their pre-paid parking card for a convenient experience. They also make a great Holiday present.”

The cards are durable, withstanding considerable heat, cold, and moisture, and are unaffected by magnetic or x-ray exposure, the release says.

"This is just one more of the mayor’s steps towards a more convenient and enjoyable day at the beach for Belmar customers," the release says.
