10th Avenue Freeze-Out Scheduled For Saturday

The Second Annual 10th Avenue Freeze Out event in Belmar and Lake Como is set for Saturday.

A charity event benefitting the more than 20 families who are still displaced because of Superstorm Sandy, the Freeze-out begins at noon with a family portion of the day’s festivities. Food, music, games and ice cream will be available in Pyanoe Plaza until 2 p.m., when Mayor Matt Doherty is scheduled to say a few words to kick off the adult portion of the event.

A $20 ticket for the event – available at any of the participating bars in Belmar or Lake Como or in the plaza the day of the event – will get you two free drinks, a free buffet and door prizes. Tickets, and commemorative t-shirts, also can be purchased at Sunstation at 10th and Main Streets in Belmar during business hours.

Proceeds of the event, like last year, will go to those Belmar families still displaced by Sandy. In the future, organizers said, proceeds will be donated to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties.
