Manasquan, Bradley Beach to Hold Contested School Board Elections

Filing deadline for April 27 school board elections passes

The majority of towns in southeastern Monmouth County will have uncontested elections for school board come April 27 as the candidate petition filing deadline passed this week.

Only Bradley Beach and Manasquan will see contested elections.

In Bradley Beach, three positions are open with each carrying a three-year term.

Sitting board member Barbara Feeley is running for re-election. Feeley is the chair of the board's Public Relations Committee, serves on the Curriculum and Personnel committees and is the board's alternate Legislative Delegate. Feeley is a resident of 4th Avenue.

Michael Mandina is also running for re-election. Mandina serves on the board's Public Relations, Finance and Personnel committees and is the board's alternate representative to the Monmouth County School Boards Association. He is a resident of Park Place Avenue.

Central Avenue resident Beth Kepler will challenge the incumbents.

In Manasquan, one sitting member and four newcomers will vie for three seats, each with a three-year term.

Linda DiPalma of Virginia Avenue, who is finishing her first term on the board, will seek re-election against Donna Bossone of North Main Street, John Campbell of Old Squan Road, Michelle LaSala of Parker Avenue and Kristine O'Shea of Parker Avenue.

Sitting board members Christine Haley and Cynthia O'Connell, who have served since 2006 and 2005, respectively, will not run.

School board elections in Avon, Belmar, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Sea Girt and Brielle will be uncontested, with more or an equal number of seats available for filed candidates.
