Manasquan BOE Accepts Margin's Resignation

The Manasquan Board of Education late Tuesday night accepted the resignation of Superintendent Geraldine Margin. 

The board School Board voted 10-1 with one abstention to accept Margin's letter of resignation and a separation agreement between both parties. The details, however, won't be released until the state commissioner of education approves the deal making it official. 

Margin, on administrative leave since early this month, will remain the district's official superintendent until Oct. 31, pending the commissioner's approval, according to the resolution (attached to the PDF section of this story). 

Board member John Winterstella cast the lone vote against the deal, while Newcomer Kenneth Clayton, as he did on all votes Tuesday, abstained. 

Board President Michelle LaSala said that since the matter was personnel-related, she nor any district officials could comment publicly at this time.

Margin, superintendent since 2007, had three years remaining on her second contract, signed in 2011.

Her base salary was $157,500 with annual merit increases of up to 14.99 percent. 

Upon retirement, she was eligible for up to $15,000 in compensation for unused sick days.

Meanwhile, acting Superintendent Robert J. Mahon, earning $605.77 per day, continues to carryout full operations of the district.
