High School Roofing Project Slightly Behind Schedule

Work won't interfere with the start of classes Sept. 5, officials say

The roof replacement project is moving slightly behind schedule, officials said.

Due to weather delays and the wait for delivery of certain materials, the work is now expected to most likely carry over into the new school year early next month, according to school board Member Thomas Bauer, chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee.

But when students return Sept. 5, classes and other school activities will not be disrupted, Bauer said.

"Roof work that will still be ongoing will not interfere with the school day, as it all can be done from the roof level. So there's no interference with classroom activity, school activity," Bauer said Tuesday during the board's work session meeting.

Roofers are waiting on materials, expected to arrive Monday, to finish the roof over the boiler room and the school's new addition, Bauer said.

Other materials needed to complete all roofing areas are expected to arrive within the next two weeks, he said.

New gutters and leaders should be installed on the original roof Saturday, and all trash bins from the back parking lot should have been cleared as of Wednesday, Bauer said.
