English Teacher Charged with Having Sex With Student To Plead Not Guilty on Tuesday

Wall teacher will plead not guilty, her attorney, Alton Kenney, told the Associated Press, "because she is, in fact, not guilty"

A Wall Township teacher charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact with a student will plead not guilty on Tuesday, her attorney said.

Kalee Warnick, of the Deer Run section of Wall, is currently listed on the district website as a teacher in the English Department.

Warnick will plead not guilty, her attorney, Alton Kenney, told the Associated Press, "because she is, in fact, not guilty."

According to police documents, Warnick allegedly had an improper relationship with a 15-year-old male student that included sexual contact. The warrant does not go into further detail about the nature of the incident.

The complaint charges Warnick with aggravated criminal sexual contact, a third degree crime, and one count of having a sexual relationship with a minor she had responsibility of the care of, which is a second degree crime.

The incident was reported to Wall Police on July 14, according to the court documents.

Warnick works as an English teacher for the high school, and at the May school board meeting she was one of four teachers approved for summer in-home instruction for a student at a rate of $52 an hour for 10 hours.

Warnick was charged July 30 and $50,000 bail was set. The next court appearance is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 6.
