Cold Snap Scraps Science Trip For Belmar Elementary

The brutal cold temperatures engulfing the state and much of the East Tuesday has forced school officials in Belmar to scrap a planned trip for some students.

Seventh grade students were scheduled to tour the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City today, but school officials have canceled the trip because of the polar vortex gripping much of the nation today, keeping temperatures in the single digits with wind chills dipping well below zero.

A new date for the science center trip on Tuesday was not yet announced.
