We're not out of the Woods Yet – Relative to Home Sales and Downtown Business Growth

As reported today by Reuters, existing home sales have hit an 18 month low through January 2014 and February projections and numbers are not expected to be much better. A combination of a snow laden winter and other items likely attributed to this. First time home buyers are accounting for less than 26% of home sales, the lowest level since 2008. 40% to 45% first time buyers in home purchases is considered a healthy market.

Now is the time for shore area residences and businesses to take a look at what can be done in order to facilitate the sale or lease of their properties. Thriving shore city downtowns are key for bringing in much need tax revenues to communities which benefit all. Often, we currently see downtown business’s with empty store-after-empty store which can’t help but also impact residential home values.

When there is more inventory then potential buyers/lessors it’s a good time to have your property either residential or commercial evaluated for small changes that may make you the one to get your property listed and sold.
