Squan Benefit Concert Seeking Donations for Gift Auction

Concert is Jan. 5 at Algonquin to rebuild Manasquan

Organizers to a large-scale benefit concert to help rebuild Manasquan are hoping for donations as part of a gift auction.

The concert and auction is Jan. 5 at Algonguin Arts. Called "A New Day," the event is being organized by the arts theater and the borough as a way to raise money to fund the rebuilding of Manasquan.

Manasquan faced much devastation after Hurricane Sandy and continues to rebuild its damaged beachfront, aid residents who faced flooding, and better emergency systems after the storm.

To that end, the "New Day" concert is also adding gift auction to its roster, and organizers are seeking donations of unique gifts and gift certificates for getaways and other services.

In an announcement this week, Borough Administrator Joe DeIorio offered some suggestions for the auction:

"For our January 5th benefit concert, we will be auctioning off a handful of goods and services. A suggestion was made to ask our facebook friends if they have a significant donation of goods or services that they could offer. We are looking to package these offers with others we have received to increase the possibility of large donations during our auction.

Examples of donations would include:

A Weekend or Week stay on a Beachfront home in Manasquan.

A Weekend or Week stay in a summertime location in Manasquan.

Airline tickets to an out of state destination.

A Weekend or Week retreat to an out of state location.

Hot Air Balloon, cruise, helicopter or the like, excursion.

A Day Trip to a unique location.

Or any other goods or services that is exciting or different.

Donations received from our auction will go to the Borough of Manasquan Restoration Funds to restore our beaches. Donations are tax deductible. If you have any of these you can offer email jdeiorio@manasquan-nj.com"
