National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Warning

A pre-winter snowfall will leave between three to five inches of snow and sleet before temperatures warm up gradually over Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until midnight, making driving conditions  hazardous.

The snow will be heavy at times this afternoon, gradually mixing with sleet and freezing rain, before turning to all rain early Monday morning, the weather service said.

Temperatures in Monmouth and Ocean counties today will reach a high of 36 degrees, with winds from the northeast at 8 to 10 miles per hour. Temperatures will warm up to 43 degrees by 5 a.m.

The outlook for Monday is rain, with a high of 50 degrees. Winds will be from the east at 10 miles per hour. Temperatures will turn sharply colder on Monday night, the weather service said.
