Manasquan Waives Construction Fees for Irene Damage

Resolution will take effect immediately

The borough of Manasquan will not charge residents for permits or inspections for construction related to damage created by Hurricane Irene.

The governing body passed the resolution unanimously. 

The New Jersey Division of Codes and Standards, in a recent letter, advised municipalities that state surcharges on permit fees would also be waived should towns choose to waive permit costs.

Hurricane Irene passed through the Jersey Shore area over the weekend of Aug. 27 and 28 bringing with it high winds and heavy rains which caused widespread flooding, power outages and destruction.

A similar resolution was recently passed in Belmar.
