Manasquan Council: Construction, Boat Slips And DPW Salaries

Manasquan Council has voted to set the salary for workers of the Department of Public Works, and to exceed the borough’s budget and establish a CAP bank.

Reports from the committees quickly followed, with significant updates from Beach, Public Safety, and Law and Code.

Councilman Michael Sinneck reported a “hectic pace of construction” in the borough, with 43 new units currently being constructed.  Sinneck also noted approximately 35 homes that remain unoccupied due to damage form Superstorm Sandy.

Councilman Greg Olivera reported the borough is almost sold out in boat slips, with only three large slips available.

Updates from the Beach Committee were provided by Councilman Joseph Bossone, who reported that all sand has been sifted and the borough’s digital welcome sign is up.

Bossone announced that all restrooms along the beach would be open by May 18 in time for Memorial Day weekend.  The 2014 beach season will kickoff Thursday, May 22 with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Manasquan, Bossone added.
