Gov. Christie: Remember Pearl Harbor Day

Governor releases statement on historic day

Governor Chris Christie issued the following statement today in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day:

Seventy-one years ago, an unprecedented attack on American service members in Oahu, Hawaii altered the course of World War II, forever changing our nation’s future and the lives of Americans for generations to come. Today, we pause to remember that defining and tragic moment in our history, and to honor and recognize the memory and sacrifice of every soldier, marine, sailor, and airman who died at Pearl Harbor. Americans will never forget their bravery and service to our nation, or the road their heroism paved for an entire generation of citizens who would fight for our freedom and values in World War II – our nation’s Greatest Generation.

Today we also honor and thank all of America's veterans and their families who have sacrificed at home and abroad for our nation in order to keep us safe from attack.

Governor Christie also proclaimed today “Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day” throughout New Jersey. A copy of the Governor’s proclamation is attached.
