Glimmer Glass Bridge Closing for Repairs

County maintenance project to close bridge July 25 for six hours

A county maintenance project will force the closure of the Glimmer Glass bridge between Manasquan and Brielle for roughly six hours next week, officials said.

The Monmouth County Division of Bridges is scheduled to close the Fisk Ave. crossing Wednesday, July 25 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., while crews repair the bridge, according to a county release.

The county is trying to fit the work in between the morning and evening commutes, in hopes of providing minimal disruption to motorists, John W. Tobia, director of county Public Works and Engineering, said in the release.

Marine traffic will not be affected by the closure, the release says.

“Monmouth County prides itself on safety, especially with its movable bridges,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the county’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “This work must be completed now so that we can complete the busy summer season with a bridge that is in good working order. We are working to limit the inconvenience.”
