Bridges Closed Since Sandy May Soon Reopen

Main Street, Ocean Avenue bridges could open within a week

Two major detours in Belmar with the closed Main Street and Ocean Avenue bridges have been in place for weeks, but borough officials hope the spans will reopen within the week.

Belmar Business Administrator Colleen Connolly said the two bridges are not municipal bridges. Ocean Avenue is a county bridge and the Main Street bridge is overseen by the state as its a state road.

Connolly said that the borough had been discussing with both state and county road departments to see when the two bridges would reopen.
