Belmar Voters to Decide Fate of Two Council Seats

Candidates file petitions, seek party nominations for November election

Two three-year council seats will be at stake in November and four candidates in Belmar have thrown their hats in the ring.

Republican Councilman Richard Wright will not seek re-election when his term expires at the end of the year and a seat currently occupied by Democrat Jennifer Nicolay, who was appointed by Mayor Matt Doherty to finish out his three-year term on the borough council, will also be up for grabs.

Nicolay will run, as will Democrat Concetta Gutierrez. Republicans James Bean Jr. and Steven Edelman will also seek election.
