Belmar Opening Summer Season Today

U.S., state and county officials to be on hand for ceremony

Belmar beaches on Wednesday will officially open for business as Mayor Matt Doherty plans to kick off the summer season at 10 a.m. at the Taylor Pavilion on the 5th Avenue Boardwalk.

Representatives from U.S., state and county offices are also scheduled to be on hand for the ceremony that will include a fleet of banner planes promoting the borough's beach and marina, according to a release from Borough Administrator Bill Young.

This season beachgoers can enjoy refurbished bathrooms and a new borough website promoting events and activities all summer long, Young said.
