Belmar Incumbent Not Seeking Another Term; Two Republican Challengers File For Council

Council President Claire Deicke not seeking another term

With two seats in the November council election up for grabs, Belmar Council President Claire Deicke will not seek another term on the council.

Democrat Janice Blackburn will run on the Democrat ticket. Blackburn serves on the board of adjustment currently.

Councilman Brian Magovern will seek another term, his third, rounding out the Democrat ticket.

The Republican challengers are David Schneck and Tom Burke, who ran for council previously.

The two council seats are for three-year terms.

Monday was the filing deadline for party primaries. The deadline for independent candidates to file with the county clerk has not passed.
