Traffic: Oceanfront Closed in Lake Como, Manasquan Striping Parking Lots

Projects throughout the area

A round-up of traffic projects in the area:

Manasquan:

The beachfront of Ocean Avenue east of First Avenue is closed for the beach headquarters reconstruction. The borough will also stripe the parking spaces for the First, Second and Third Avenue parking lots. The lots will be off-limits during painting hours.

In Avon, the eastern sidewalk is closed for boardwalk reconstruction along Ocean Avenue.

Parkway work continues:

The Wall rest stop's fuel station remains closed for renovations there, and the parkway shoulder widening project will continue to create lane closures south and northbound mostly overnight in portions of Brick. The multi-phase project will add shoulders and reconfigure some exits between miles 83 and 100.

Route 35 in Ocean County:

The state is postponing Route 35 reconstruction on the barrier island until after Labor Day, state officials said. The project was approved between Bay Head to Seaside.

However with bids to be decided, the DOT is moving forward with planning the 12.5 mile project to stretch from the northern end of Bay Head to Island Beach State Park.

The first contract will cover 3.5 miles through Bay Head and Mantoloking, the second phase will include Lavallette, Toms River and Brick and the last section will be through Seaside Heights, Seaside Park and Berkeley to Island Beach State Park.

Work will still begin in early summer, but only drainage and construction of pump stations, not any work that will not involve the intermittent closure of the lanes of Route 35.

Asbury Park:

Portions of Kingsley Street are closed for an ongoing project there, while Ocean Avenue remains open to traffic and is being used as a detour.
