Swimmer Missing Off Bradley Beach

Search is under way for victim in water

The search is under way for a swimmer who went missing off Bradley Beach's Brinley Avenue beach as teams of divers scour the ocean assisted in the air by a Coast Guard helicopter.

Boats, jet skis and swimmers search the ocean for the missing person as hundreds of shocked onlookers watched from the shoreline.

A total of three swimmers went missing, according to scanner reports. Two were recovered and were seen being treated by EMTs on the beach. Another is as yet unaccounted for.

Rescue workers from Neptune Township, Neptune City and police department personnel from surrounding towns as well as life guards from various municipalities were on the scene.

Police have blocked off Ocean Avenue between Brinley and Lareine avenues and have cornered off the shoreline with police tape as they conduct their search.

Earlier today, were reported at the borough's Lareine Avenue beach, one block from the scene of the missing swimmer.

Bradley Beach lifeguards are currently only working weekends. They will begin full-time watches next week.
