Suspect in Theater Bomb Threat Caught
Bradley Beach man allegedly left message on Algonquin Theatre's answering machine
A Bradley Beach man allegedly behind a bomb threat left Friday on the answering machine of the on Main Street in Manasquan was caught by police Monday, authorities said.
Steven Weilands, 44, was charged with one count of third-degree making a false public alarm after the alleged threat forced the evacuation of the theater while a search was carried out by borough police and the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, according to a release from Manasquan Police Chief Elliott Correia.
No explosive devices were found during the search, and the theater was reopened to the public once authorities deemed it safe for occupancy, Correia said.

Management notified police at 1:40 p.m. Friday, but the message was left hours earlier as theater staff did not immediately listen to the voice mail, Correia said.
Weilands is due to make his initial appearance in Municipal Court on the charges Sept. 12 at 9 a.m., Correia said.
