Spring Lake Police Respond to Vandalism, Criminal Mischief

Spring Lake police found themselves responding to multiple calls for vandalism and criminal mischief to borough property and construction sites over the past month.

  • On May 1, Sgt. Anthony Ploskonka and Det. Christopher Kucinski responded to the Spring Lake Train Station for a motor vehicle fire.
  • On May 9, Det. Christopher Kucinski and Ptl. Emmett Smith responded to the intersection of Pitney Avenue and Third Avenue for a reported fight. Upon officers arrival located Phillip Sperry, Jr., 19 of Wall Township and Patrick Duffy, 55 of Bradley Beach involved in a verbal altercation about each other’s driving. Each was issued a Borough Ordinance for Breach of Peace.
  • On May 12, Matthew Villa 22, of Staten Island, NY was arrested by Ptl. Emmett Smith for possession of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana, and other motor vehicle offenses.
  • On May 18, Sgt. Steven Blecki took a report of vandalism. Sometime during the overnight unknown actor(s) damaged the Borough of Spring Lake sign at Warren and Fifth Avenue.
  • On May 23, Ptl. Palmer received a report of identity theft from a residence in the 2200 block of Third Avenue.
  • On May 24, Ptl. James Heine and Ptl. Ryan Reiff responded to a suspicious bag in the area of First and Brown Avenues. Officers checked the bag and determined it to be a discarded lunch bag.
  • On May 27th, Ptl. Timothy Moran received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the area of Newark and First Avenues. Det. Christopher Kucinski is assisting the investigation.
  • On May 27 S.O. Harry Cuttrell responded to the 2200 block of First Avenue for a report of criminal mischief.
  • On May 29, Ptl. Emmett Smith received a report of vandalism to a construction site in the 800 block of Ocean Avenue.
  • On May 30 Det. Christopher Kucinski responded to the 2500 block of Ocean Avenue for vandalism complaint.
