Spring Lake Heights Police Respond to Unregistered Solicitor, Find Deported Felon

Union City man allegedly found illegally soliciting

A Union County man was arrested after Spring Lake Heights Police allegedly found the 24 year-old soliciting business without registering, and discovered he had an outstanding warrant and was previously deported.

Spring Lake Heights Officer Zachary Ramp said Ormandy J. Sierra, 24, of Union City, was arrested Feb. 26 after police responded to a complaint of unregistered solicitors. Spring Lake Heights, like many other towns, requires door-to-door salespersons be registered with town hall first.

Ramp said an on-scene investigation led to the arrest of Sierra, who was found to have an oustanding criminal warrant.

Sierra was also found to have been a previously deported felon and in the United States illegally. Police did not release details on Sierra's previous sentencing charges and native country status. The Department of Homeland Security issued an immigration detainer and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officers took custody of Sierra.  Sgt. Andrew O’Neill made the arrest.

Ramp released the following police blotter on Spring Lake Heights activity:
