Multiple Teens Among Those Arrested for DWI Sunday

Spring Lake Heights Police made several arrests for drugs and alcohol over the weekend, including a report of a teen erratically riding a bicycle, and a 16 year-old unlicensed driver allegedly in possession of drugs while driving under the influence. Each of the arrests were on Route 71.

Officer Zachary Ramp of Spring Lake Heights Police said the arrests were made March 3, with one coming at 1 a.m. for a 16 year-old riding erratically down Route 71 on a bicycle.

Police responded to the 300 block of Route 71 for a report of a juvenile on a bike without a helmet, riding erratically at 1 a.m. Sunday. Ptl. Kenneth Hager stopped the teen to investigate, and allegedly found the teen was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Ramp said juvenile charges were sent to Monmouth County Family Division and the teen was released to their parent.

Two arrests were made around 5:30 p.m. on Route 71 Sunday.

At 5:23 p.m. Ramp stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Hwy 71 for motor vehicle violations. The driver was an unlicensed 16 year old juvenile from Wall Township, and the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Additionally juvenile charges were sent to Monmouth County Family Court for possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. The teen was released to their guardian, Ramp said.

Minutes later near the 300 block of Route 71, a 21-year old Sea Girt man was stopped and charged with DWI. At 5:30 p.m. Det. Michael Matunas stopped the vehicle for motor vehicle violations and arrested the man for DWI.

Ramp said another traffic stop for motor vehicle violations led to an arrest for DWI later that evening. At 8:40 p.m. Ptl. Raymond Kwiatkowski stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Hwy 71 for motor vehicle violations.  The driver, a 22 year-old Englishtown man was arrested and charged with DWI. Ptl. Kwiatkowski made the arrest.
