Sea Girt Man Accused of Home Burglary, Theft

Evan R. Budalich to make his first court appearance July 18

A local man is being held after police said he broke into a Sea Girt home and stole various items.

Evan R. Budalich, 23, of Sea Girt was charged June 8 with burglary, theft and criminal mischief after a break-in at a New York Boulevard home in Sea Girt, according to a complaint filed with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Budalich had been told "numerous times" not to enter the home after committing past thefts, according to the police complaint. Regardless, police say he broke into the home and stole various items, including gold coins, a money clip, a crucifix, an EMT pin and more.

He also was charged with criminal mischief after police said he caused more than $2,000 in damage by reputedly breaking the second-floor window frame to gain entry to the home.

He is being held on $85,000 bail. Budalich will make his first appearance to answer the charges on July 18.
