Point Boro Girl Rescued from Manasquan Inlet Fall

12-year-old slipped on jetty, taken to hospital with minor leg injury

A Point Pleasant Borough girl who slipped and fell Sunday while playing on the Manasquan Inlet jetty in Manasquan suffered no serious injuries, police said Monday. 

The 12-year-old fell in between the jetty rocks shortly after 7 p.m. and was pulled out by a human chain of police, fire and first-aid officials, Manasquan Police Chief Elliott Correia said. 

In accordance with standard procedure, she was carried off the jetty to safety in a litter (or rescue basket), Correia said.

The girl complained of a leg injury and was transported by ambulance to a hospital Sunday night, Correia said. The injury did not appear serious, he added. 

Authorities did not release the girl's name.
