Police: Kitten Dies In Spring Lake Heights House Fire

No one home at the time of the fire, but a firefighters were unable to get to a kitten inside, police said.

A fire severely damaged a home that broke out Wall Road late afternoon Monday, police said.

No one was inside at the time of the fire, Matunas said, but firefighters were unable to get a kitten out of the burning home. 

Firefighters responded to multiple calls about a house on fire at 914 Wall Road around 5:24 p.m. Monday, Spring Lake Heights Detective Michael Matunas said.

A video posted to the Facebook page of the Independent Fire Company #1 shows the front of the home engulfed in flames and a neighbor using a garden hose in an attempt to douse the fire. 

Spring Lake Heights and Spring Lake fire departments, along with the Monmouth County Fire Marshal responded, Matunas said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Matunas said.
