Thefts from Unlocked Cars Reported

Police investigating several in Manasquan and Brielle reported last week

Local police are investigating several thefts from unlocked cars in Manasquan and Brielle reported last week, authorities said. 

Manasquan Police Chief Elliott Correia on Tuesday urged residents to lock their cars after three unlocked vehicles were entered during the overnight hours on July 27 and 29.

Brielle Police reported the same type of incidents last week, Correia said.

The reported thefts on July 27 took place on Minnesink Road and Wigwam Path, according to a release by Manasquan Police. Patrolman John Mahoney investigated both incidents. 

And a purse was reported stolen from a car on Riverside Drive on July 29, the release says. Special Officer Jesse Waterson investigated the report.

In other theft-realted news, three bicycles were reported stolen from Fourth Avenue on July 28. Special Officer Roger Fernandez investigated the report. 

Police have warned residents to lock up their bikes to prevent thefts.
