UPDATE: Police Investigate Accidental Fall, Electrocution In Wall Township

An Ocean County man was hospitalized Saturday after he was electrocuted by a power line on Pierce Street in Wall, police said.

The 39-year-old Toms River man was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment, police said. A 20-year-old Manchester man, who was injured while trying to provide assistance, was also treated at the hospital.

The names of the victims were not released.

At approximately 12:02 PM, Wall Township emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on Pierce Street for a reported electrocution, and fall from a tree.

Upon arrival, the two victims, both service workers, were found, police said.

The Toms River man was trimming a tree and apparently made contact with a primary transmission power line, police said. He was electrocuted and burned, and then fell from a ladder.

The Manchester man, also a tree service worker, saw the first victim falling from the ladder and sustained leg injuries while attempting to catch him, police said.

An investigation is pending, police said.
