Police: NY Man Stole Guitar from Boathouse Act

Scheduled to make initial appearance in Superior Court Wednesday

A New York man was arrested over the weekend after, police say, he stole a guitar from a Belmar bar. 

Darren E. Garofolo, 39, of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., is charged with theft for allegedly stealing a red Gibson electric guitar from the Boathouse Bar and Grill on Saturday, the criminal complaint says. 

The guitar and case, valued at $2000, belonged to an individual identifed in the complaint only as "M.D." The bar's website listed Mike Dalton as Saturday's performer.

Garofolo, who was not arrested until Sunday, is scheduled to appear in court 1 p.m. Wednesday, the complaint says. 

His bail was set at $15,000 with no ten-percent option.
